Sprinklers installation

Description

Sprinklers installation is a fixed fire extinguishing installation with water as extinguishing factor. There are two main types of sprinklers installation. First one is most common with water filling the pipes all the time under certain, calculated pressure (wet installation) and second one, with pressured air filling the pipes and water under the alarm valve (dry installation). The main reason to divide installation into this two types was surrounding's temperature. If temperature may cause water to freeze, dry system has to be used.

In case of fire, heat caused by burning materials causes sprinkler's thermo-active element to break and allow water to flow. Only sprinklers above fire open which reduces losses caused by water. Water flowing through alarm valve which controls the area causes fire alarm by activating water motor alarm and switching pressure switch on. Sprinkler pump starts operating when pressure inside the installation drops under certain level and discharges water into the endangered area. Sprinklers installation operates until manually switched off.

Main parts of sprinklers installation

  1. Water main supplies sprinklers installation.
  2. Sprinkler pump discharges water into the installation.
  3. Pressure tank discharges water into the installation.
  4. Jockey pump keeps pressure in the installation on certain level (working pressure).
  5. Air compressor keeps pressure in pressure tank and dry installation.
  6. Alarm valve controls sprinklers installation and informs about its work.
